A Parish Meeting or an Annual Parish Meeting “... is NOT a meeting of the Parish Council but a meeting for all Electors of a Parish. There must be at least one every year which must take place between 1st March and 1st June. The Parish Council usually convenes & organises that meeting, but any group of 10 or more electors can convene a Public/Parish Meeting at any time if they think there is something to discuss.”
Meetings "are a unique statutory democratic institution capable if rightly and interestingly organised of strengthening the influence of the council inside the parish itself and in its dealings with other authorities, government departments etc.
It can also be used to evoke public interest in local government generally to overcome some of that apathy of which so much is heard." - National Association of Local Councils (NALC).
They are an opportunity to meet elected Councillors and for them to receive your views on issues that affect you.

29.4.10 KERBSIDE RECYCLING IN STROUD DISTRICT
District Cllr Nigel Studdert-Kennedy asked to add a matter to his report which he wished to stress as he was also reporting to the LS APM later: He had not included a diagram of “the rocket” just to fill space in KS APM Report: “RECYCLING The possibility of providing a recycling service based on the successful Stanleys trials has not been abandoned. In order for any such scheme to succeed it has to service the entire district. To take full advantage of the benefits gained from major contracts it may be necessary to co-operate with other local authorities to provide this type of service. The financial implications have to be fully explored and until this has been completed no proposal for such a service can be made.”
