Planning Issues

Planning Applications for village housing
The recent application for 15 new homes on land owned by a local charity in the centre of the village is causing some concern to residents. The Parish Council has objected to the application as it currently stands, a copy of which is attached below.
However, the Parish Council does in principle support the idea of more local housing for local people, and this land has been allocated by Stroud District Council for housing for many years.

9th April 2010
The Parish Council discussed what response it would give to Stroud District Council's Core Strategy process so far.
The response is printed below. It should be borne in mind that Stroud District Council has advised that they will probably need to consult twice more before they decide which Strategy to pursue for housing and employment development until 2026. In the light of further consultation rounds the Parish Council may well review its position and respond accordingly.

For more information on the progress of all planning applications please refer to www.stroud.gov.uk and look up the reference number on planning pages as the link to them on our website does not always work.

If you do not know the application reference number you should still be able to find it by selecting some other criteria for a search.

Now that the District Council's Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment's Final Report (SHLAA) has been published, it can be seen that a number of areas were put forward that are likely to be pursued by would be developers.

That does not mean they will be developed as that debate/discussion/consultation has yet to take place, but it does mean that SDC now has a district-wide land bank from which to consider how best to allocate housing land for future housing needs.
